Key findings

  1. 93.6% of scheduled posts go to a single network. Only 6.4% are sent to two or more networks at once.
  2. 33% of posts scheduled in advance go out exactly on the hour (:00), and 46% on a quarter hour.
  3. 28% of posts are published right away; 25% are scheduled more than a week ahead. The median post scheduled in advance is set 82 hours (about 3.4 days) before it goes out.
  4. 79% of posts include an image or a video.
  5. 60% of active users post to LinkedIn, more than to any other network; Instagram has the most posts (22%).
  6. Tuesday to Thursday carry 46% of all posts and weekends 25%. On LinkedIn, weekends drop to 17% and Tuesday is the busiest day.
  7. The busiest posting hours are 12:00–17:00 UTC, with 35% of all posts.
  8. A typical regular poster publishes about 3.9 posts per active week (middle half: 2.3–8.4).

This study describes when and how people post, not how well those posts performed. It does not include reach or engagement, so read it as a map of habits rather than a list of best times.

Which networks people post to

Instagram carries the most posts, but LinkedIn has the widest reach among users: 1,280 of 2,118 active users (60%) published at least one LinkedIn post.

  • Instagram22.4% (12,189, 598 users)
  • LinkedIn18.3% (9,940, 1,280 users)
  • Facebook15.6% (8,500, 242 users)
  • TikTok11.5% (6,242, 265 users)
  • YouTube11.0% (5,987, 147 users)
  • Threads10.4% (5,663, 143 users)
  • X8.0% (4,357, 155 users)
  • Telegram1.6% (893, 73 users)
  • Bluesky + Mastodon1.2% (668, 20 users)
Share of 54,439 published posts by network. Mastodon had fewer than 10 users, so it is shown together with the next smallest network.

One network at a time

Cross-posting tools make it easy to send the same post everywhere, yet 93.6% of scheduled posts went to a single network. Only 6.4% were published to two or more networks at once, and posts sent to four or more networks were rare (0.7%).

  • 1 network93.6% (46,180)
  • 2 networks4.1% (2,033)
  • 3 networks1.6% (783)
  • 4+ networks0.7% (341)
Networks per scheduled post, 49,337 posts. A “post” here is one scheduling action, which can go to one or more networks.

Weekdays beat weekends

Tuesday to Thursday account for 46% of all posts, and Saturday and Sunday for 25%, below the 29% an even week would give. LinkedIn is the most workweek-bound network: only 17% of LinkedIn posts go out on weekends, and Tuesday is its busiest day.

Hours: a midday peak in UTC

Posting is busiest from 12:00 to 17:00 UTC, which is morning in the Americas and afternoon in Europe; those five hours carry 35% of all posts. Publora does not store users’ time zones, so these hours are in UTC and mix audiences from many regions.

How far ahead people schedule

Scheduling splits into two camps. 28% of posts are published right away, while 25% are queued more than a week ahead. When a post is scheduled at least five minutes in advance, the median lead time is 82 hours, roughly 3.4 days.

  • Published right away27.8% (13,710)
  • 5–59 minutes ahead8.0% (3,954)
  • 1–24 hours ahead14.8% (7,296)
  • 1–7 days ahead24.7% (12,206)
  • More than 7 days ahead24.7% (12,171)
Time between creating a post and its scheduled time, 49,337 published posts.

A third of scheduled posts go out at :00

People pick round numbers. Of 35,627 posts scheduled at least five minutes ahead, 33.3% were set for exactly the top of the hour and 9.3% for half past. Together with :15 and :45, quarter hours take 45.9% of all scheduled posts, against 6.7% if minutes were chosen at random. Among Publora users :00 is by far the most crowded minute; if other schedulers behave the same way, a post set a few minutes later lands in a quieter moment.

Most posts carry media

79% of posts include at least one image or video; 21% are text only. Part of this is structural: Instagram, TikTok and YouTube require media, and 46% of posts include at least one of them.

How often regular posters publish

Among the 361 users who posted in at least four different weeks, the median is 3.9 posts per week they were active. The middle half of them publish between 2.3 and 8.4 posts per active week.

What this means for your schedule

  • Weekday posting dominates, especially on LinkedIn. If you post on weekdays too, you are competing with most other posts; whether weekends work better for your audience is worth testing.
  • Skip the :00 rush. Scheduling a few minutes past the hour costs nothing and avoids the single most common minute in this study.
  • Tailor rather than blast. Most people publish to one network at a time, which leaves room to adapt the format for each audience.
  • Find your own best time from your own results. See what the big studies say about LinkedIn timing and how to measure it with your data.

Methodology

  • Source: the Publora production database, read-only. Only published posts are counted; drafts and failed posts are excluded.
  • Period: 2026-03-02 to 2026-09-27 (UTC).
  • Units: a “post” in network, weekday and hour counts is one published post on one network (54,439 in total). “Networks per post” and lead time use scheduled posts, where one post can go to several networks (49,337 and 49,337).
  • Time: weekdays and hours use the actual publish time in UTC. Publora does not store user time zones.
  • Privacy: only timestamps, network names, counts and whether media was attached were read. No post text or account details were used, and any figure based on fewer than 10 distinct users is left out.
  • Limits: Publora users are a mix of founders, creators, small businesses and agencies, weighted toward people who use scheduling and AI tools, so habits may differ from the platforms’ overall user base.
