How to Post to LinkedIn From Cursor

Add Publora as an MCP server in Cursor, approve the connection in your browser, and you can draft and schedule posts to LinkedIn, X, Instagram and seven more networks from the chat. No API key is required.

Publora connects to Cursor through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Once it is set up, you can describe the post you want, choose a network and time, and create it without switching to the Publora dashboard.

Before You Start

You need Cursor 3.15 or later and a Publora account with at least one social account connected. Social accounts are connected in the Publora dashboard. The free plan allows 15 posts a month without a card.

Add the Publora Server

Open Settings → Customize → MCPs. In Cursor 3.15 this replaced the older Tools & MCP location.

Click New MCP Server and enter:

Name: publora
Type: Remote HTTPS
URL: https://mcp.publora.com

Leave the HTTP headers, client ID and client secret empty.

Authorise the Connection

The server appears under Needs Attention with an Authenticate link next to it.

Click Authenticate. Your browser opens a Publora consent screen showing the account you are authorising. Click Approve to complete the connection.

Back in Cursor the server appears as connected and reports sixteen tools enabled. The whole setup takes about ninety seconds, most of it waiting for the browser.

Ask Cursor to Post

The examples below use LinkedIn. Posting works the same way for X, Threads, Telegram, Facebook, Bluesky and Mastodon. Instagram, TikTok and YouTube need an image or video, which is harder to hand over from a chat window.

You can now use Publora from the Cursor chat. For example, ask Cursor which social accounts are connected to see what is available for publishing, and how long each access token has left. Those tokens expire quietly, and the first sign is usually a post that did not go out.

To create a post, tell Cursor what to write, where to publish it and when. After the tool call, Cursor returns the post details and its ID.

The post also appears in the Publora dashboard, where you can edit, reschedule or delete it before publication.

Publora's MCP tools cover the main publishing workflow: one tool per action to create, read, edit, delete and list posts, another set to upload and manage media, and one that lists your connected social accounts.

Scheduling

Include a timezone when you specify a publication time. Publora schedules in UTC, so an explicit time such as 18 August 2026 at 12:00 UTC+4 avoids ambiguity.

If you omit the publication time, Publora creates a draft instead of scheduling the post.

Troubleshooting

Seeing the Publora tools in Cursor does not necessarily mean authentication is complete. If a Publora call fails, return to the MCP settings and use Authenticate again.

If you edit ~/.cursor/mcp.json manually, restart Cursor so it reloads the configuration.
